About EquityDive

EquityDive was founded by Naman Zatakia, a former investment banker who spent more than 13 years in New York advising on mergers, acquisitions and financings. LinkedIn

That work covered more than $30 billion of M&A, on both the buy side and the sell side, including fairness opinions. It also covered more than $50 billion of financings, across investment-grade and leveraged debt, project finance, public equity, convertibles and hybrid securities.

A note from the founder

The pattern I kept seeing

Over the years, friends and family without a finance background have talked to me about stocks they owned or were thinking of buying. The reasons they gave for liking them were usually some version of: it's a blue-chip name, it has a huge market ahead of it, they love the product, they believe in the founder, the share price looked cheap, it had just gone through a stock split, or it had sold off so it must be a bargain. None of those tell you what a business is worth. A $20 share can be expensive and a $900 share can be cheap. A stock that has halved can halve again if the reason it fell is still there.

And it isn't only people picking single stocks. Millions of people put money into the market every month through their retirement plans without ever looking at a price. Many who buy an S&P 500 fund believe they're spread across 500 companies, yet the ten largest companies alone made up 39% of the index at September 30, 2026 (S&P Dow Jones Indices), after a record 40.7% at the end of 2025.

What a strong market hides

Strong markets hide this. When money is easy, plenty of approaches look smart: chasing momentum, buying the story, cheering revenue growth without asking what it cost or whether it ever turns into cash. As Warren Buffett put it, “Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked.”

The real test

The real test comes when a price moves against you. Without a sense of what the business is worth, it's tempting to hold on and wait to break even. The better question is what changed in the business, and whether your reason for owning it still holds.

What this is

In M&A advisory, every deal starts with that discipline: value the business several ways, stress-test the sensitivities, check the methods against each other, and question the assumptions. EquityDive is built on those principles. Using what today's technology makes possible, it puts the same institutional methods behind any US stock in minutes, and it will keep raising the bar for what everyday investors have to work with. So your decisions rest on the fundamentals, and on conviction that's your own.

How it works

Code does the math. Financial statements, forecasts and valuations are calculated from SEC filings and institutional-grade data. The AI model you choose adds the judgment on top and shows its reasoning. No bank, broker or advertiser pays for what a report says.

What we're working toward

To be the first place you go to understand any US stock. Research that would take a professional days, ready in minutes, at a price any investor can pay. So you spend your time deciding, not digging.
