How EquityDive compares
EquityDive builds independent research on the US stock you pick, valued with the methods professionals use, in about 5 minutes. Here is how that compares with what people use today, from AI chatbots to data terminals. Every competitor's price and features below come from its own website, checked in October 2026.
What you get with EquityDive
- One report on the stock you pick, built when you ask for it, in 13 sections from the business to the valuation
- Financial statements, forecasts and valuation math calculated by code from filings and institutional-grade data, not generated by AI
- Valuation methods suited to the industry, side by side, with inputs you can adjust on the cash-flow and dividend models
- Analysis and judgment calls by the flagship model you choose from four leading AI labs, with its reasoning shown
- A contrarian view in every report, plus an earnings call review, insider and congressional trading, and institutional ownership
- Your first report is free. Then $10 a report, up to 30% off with credit packs. No subscription.
AI chatbots
ChatGPT · Claude · Gemini · Grok
These chatbots are the brains behind a lot of good analysis, including ours. The difference is everything built around the brain.
What it is: General AI assistants. Each lab's main paid plan costs about $20 to $30 a month (ChatGPT Plus $20, Claude Pro $20, Google AI Pro $19.99, and Grok's latest models start with Premium at $30). Their top plans run from about $100 to $500 a month.
Good for: Open questions, explanations, drafting and back-and-forth conversation on almost any topic.
How EquityDive differs
- You type a ticker and get one complete report. No prompts to write, no data to find and paste in, no edge cases to test.
- Reported financials, forecasts and valuation math are calculated by code, so the reported figures don't shift from one answer to the next.
- A chatbot answers the question the way you ask it. A leading question can pull it toward the answer you hoped for, and where it lacks the data it may fill the gap with a guess. EquityDive gives the model the same brief and the same facts for every report: the filings, the forecast and the valuation come first, then the model makes its own call on the scenarios and price target. Every report also includes a contrarian view.
- Every report follows the same structure, so two stocks or two models line up section by section.
- You get each lab's flagship model in one place, paid per report, instead of keeping four subscriptions. Some chatbots now offer finance add-ons, but Claude's own help page notes the data connectors may need a separate subscription.
- Depending on the lab and your settings, your chats may be used to improve its models, and your account is tied to you. EquityDive's servers send each request with no name, email or account attached, so the model provider can't see who asked.
Perplexity
What it is: An AI answer engine with finance pages. Pro is $17 a month billed yearly; Max is $200 a month. Its own help center lists the top models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI as Max-only. Some premium data sources are included with a daily limit; others, such as FactSet and Morningstar, work only if you hold your own account with that provider.
Good for: Fast answers with links to sources, and keeping up with news and earnings dates.
How EquityDive differs
- A full report with forecasts and a valuation built by code, rather than an answer to one question at a time
- Each lab's flagship model included in the price of a report, with no data subscriptions to bring
- Perplexity's help center says it keeps consumer data for AI training by default unless you switch it off. EquityDive sends requests to AI models with no name, email or account attached.
Yahoo Finance
What it is: A free site with quotes, charts, news, watchlists and up to five years of financials, supported by ads. Paid plans run from $7.95 to $39.95 a month billed yearly; the $19.95 Silver plan adds research reports, a fair value and Morningstar ratings.
Good for: Checking a price, a chart or the latest headlines for free.
How EquityDive differs
- Yahoo Finance gives you the pages; you piece the picture together yourself. EquityDive puts it in one connected report, with forecasts, several valuation methods and links to the source filings.
- No ads, and no money made from your activity. Yahoo's privacy policy describes using activity and inferred interests to target ads.
Stock research sites
Scattered data points, black-box scores, or one report written once and reused for everyone. EquityDive generates a report for you, on demand, on the flagship model you choose.
Seeking Alpha
What it is: Premium is $299 a year. Articles come from more than 7,000 outside contributors, and Quant Ratings score about 5,600 stocks on more than 100 metrics. Alpha Picks, chosen by the Quant system, is $399 a year.
Good for: A wide range of opinions on popular stocks, and a quick factor-based rating.
How EquityDive differs
Articles reflect each author's view on the stocks they chose to write about, and a Quant Rating is a score. An EquityDive report covers the stock you pick, with the forecast and valuation behind its price target laid out, and adjustable where it builds a cash-flow or dividend model.
Morningstar
What it is: Morningstar Investor is $249 a year, with a 7-day trial. Its analysts cover about 1,700 companies worldwide with a fair value estimate, star rating and economic moat rating; a quantitative model rates the rest.
Good for: Long-standing analyst coverage of large companies, and fund research.
How EquityDive differs
A covered stock shows you a fair value, a star rating and the price levels behind it. An EquityDive report shows its valuation methods side by side, with the five-year forecast and peer multiples behind them, and where it builds a cash-flow or dividend model, the discount rate step by step with inputs you can change. It also covers about 4,000 US companies, plus an earnings call review and insider and congressional trading.
Simply Wall St
What it is: A free plan with 5 company reports a month; Premium $120 and Unlimited $240 a year, billed yearly. Its Snowflake score is built from pass-or-fail checks across five areas, and each report shows a fair value from its own model.
Good for: A quick visual snapshot of a company's strengths and weaknesses.
How EquityDive differs
The flagship AI model you choose weighs the methods and makes the judgment calls, with its reasoning shown, on top of a forecast and valuation built by code. Forward peer multiples are based on Street consensus estimates.
Zacks
What it is: Zacks Premium is $249 a year, with a 30-day trial. The Zacks Rank is a quantitative model based on changes in analysts' earnings estimates. Written analyst reports cover a subset of stocks; others get a one-page snapshot.
Good for: Screening for stocks with rising earnings estimates.
How EquityDive differs
A rank tells you where estimates are heading. An EquityDive report asks what the business is worth, using several valuation methods, and shows the work.
TipRanks
What it is: Premium is $13.50 a month and Ultimate $22.50 a month, shown as 55% off. It tracks analyst ratings, insiders, hedge funds and bloggers, and its AI stock analysis gives a rating out of 100 and a price target, with a choice of AI models.
Good for: Seeing what analysts and other experts are saying about a stock.
How EquityDive differs
TipRanks' AI reports are prepared ahead of time; the one we checked for a large stock was dated five weeks before we viewed it. An EquityDive report is generated when you ask, and its price target comes with the forecast, the methods and the inputs behind it.
Wall Street research
Hard to get as an individual. Detailed forecasts, but the price target often rests on one chosen multiple, from a firm that may also want the company's business, and an analyst who may need to stay on good terms with its management.
What it is: Research written by analysts at banks and brokers, mostly for their institutional clients.
Good for: Deep industry knowledge and detailed company models. Street models are usually more detailed than ours.
How EquityDive differs
Any stock, on demand, from a company with no banking or trading business. The value is cross-checked across several methods, and forward peer multiples use Street consensus estimates.
Financial advisors
What it is: A personal relationship. According to FINRA, advisory fees are usually a percentage of the assets in your account, charged whether or not you trade. The SEC's own example: $100,000 growing 4% a year for 20 years ends near $208,000 with a 0.25% annual fee and near $179,000 with a 1% fee.
Good for: A full financial plan, taxes, and a steady hand when markets fall.
How EquityDive differs
EquityDive is not an adviser and doesn't replace one. It gives you an independent report on any stock in your portfolio, so you can see the case for each holding and talk it through with your adviser. Many advisers can use it too.
Data terminals
Bloomberg Terminal · FactSet · S&P Capital IQ Pro
What it is: The standard toolkits for institutional investors and bankers, with deep data, analytics, news and their own AI features. None publishes a price; pricing goes through a sales request. Bloomberg's price was reported at $31,980 a year for a single terminal on two-year contracts starting in 2025 (NeuGroup, citing Bloomberg's letter to customers). S&P's UK public-sector price list starts Capital IQ Pro at £45,000 a year for up to 5 users.
Good for: Professionals who build their own models and need to trace figures in depth.
How EquityDive differs
A finished first pass on most US-listed names in about 5 minutes: model, comps and valuation built on institutional-grade financial data, with links to the source filings. It doesn't replace a terminal, but it is priced per report and anyone can sign up.
Enterprise AI research platforms
AlphaSense · Rogo
What it is: AI research tools sold to firms. AlphaSense sells annual subscriptions through its sales team and offers a 2-week trial to investment and corporate professionals; it searches a large library of filings, broker research and expert call transcripts. Rogo sells through demos and sales calls to banks and investment firms.
Good for: Teams searching large document libraries and automating firm-wide workflows.
How EquityDive differs
A complete report on one stock, priced per report, for individuals and small firms as well as large ones.
